Officer Jones received information that the caller was a male child approximately 12 years of age and hiding in a closet. The child said he heard his back door kicked in and people walking around in his house. The child was crying on the phone, whispering that he was home alone, scared, and didn't know what to do. What do YOU do? Would you like to help people like this child? Want to learn more about what law enforcement officers do on a daily basis? Come join us! Fayetteville Technical Community College will be conducting a Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program through Summerscapes. We will learn about the law enforcement community and the different rewarding career paths this profession has to offer. Get ready for the SAT, one of the most important tests you will ever take. This comprehensive preparation program is designed to help you meet the challenges of the exam format. You will receive a thorough overview of the SAT and become familiar with every question type that appears on the exam. The course will cover all sections of the exam: math, reading, and writing/language. Math topics will include algebra, geometry, percentages, pictorials, and quantitative comparisons. Reading exercises will cover single and paired passages as well as vocabulary enhancement. To prepare for the writing/language section of the exam, you will learn to spot grammatical errors and improve the written expression of ideas. To maximize our time together, you will be assigned some practice question sets to complete outside of class time.

After taking Sewing 101 or if you are an intermediate/advanced student, join this class to complete exciting projects and learn more about sewing machines. The class will allow students to work on and practice their existing techniques and build upon those to expand their sewing skills. In this unique and interesting class, you will learn how science applies to the law. Through hands-on and/or simulated experiences, you will learn processes that are applied in real life to solve crimes, such as finger printing and footwear impressions. You will be able to understand how your education in science can turn into a fast paced, fun, and exciting career! NOTE: Students in this course will view staged crime scenes involving mannequins with realistic-looking injuries. Parental discretion is recommended.
