Art Through the Ages (grades 5-7)

During this course, students will learn about ancient art history and produce pieces from different time periods. You will have the opportunity to create cave art paintings, ancient Egyptian paintings with hieroglyphs, Roman mosaic paintings, and medieval stained-glass paintings. Along the way, you will learn basic art concepts and vocabulary that will be applied to each of your projects.

Our instructor will introduce you to the fundamental skills used in cooking along with how to properly measure and combine colorful ingredients to make delicious and unique treats. Come and join in the fun and experience being a chef for the day.

Automotive Care Camp (grades 8-12)

This week long, all-day camp for teens is the perfect place for young car enthusiasts to get hands-on experience in the automotive world. Campers will learn how to apply vinyl car wraps, practice professional car detailing techniques, and understand the basics of roadside assistance. Through guided workshops and real demonstrations, they'll build practical skills while working with tools, materials, and vehicles.

Basic Law Enforcement Training (grades 10-12)

At approximately 2300 hrs., Officer Jones was dispatched to 1234 Main St., Fayetteville NC in reference to a possible home invasion. Officer Jones received information that the caller was a male child approximately 12 years of age and hiding in a closet. The child said he heard his back door kicked in and people walking around in his house. The child was crying on the phone, whispering that he was home alone, scared, and didn't know what to do. What do YOU do? Would you like to help people like this child? Want to learn more about what law enforcement officers do on a daily basis? Come join us! Fayetteville Technical Community College will be conducting a Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program through Summerscapes. We will learn about the law enforcement community and the different rewarding career paths this profession has to offer. Some of the things that will be covered in this program are: public speaking, patrol, weapon safety (simulator weapons only), interviewing, physical fitness, investigations, testifying in court, crime scene processing, and educational opportunities. Come join us and learn more about the law enforcement profession!

Preparation for the SAT (grades 10-12)

Get ready for the SAT, one of the most important tests you will ever take. This comprehensive preparation program is designed to help you meet the challenges of the exam format. You will receive a thorough overview of the SAT and become familiar with every question type that appears on the exam. The course will cover all sections of the exam: math, reading, and writing/language. Math topics will include algebra, geometry, percentages, pictorials, and quantitative comparisons. Reading exercises will cover single and paired passages as well as vocabulary enhancement. To prepare for the writing/language section of the exam, you will learn to spot grammatical errors and improve the written expression of ideas. To maximize our time together, you will be assigned some practice question sets to complete outside of class time.
