What students can expect
This course is the first in a two-part program designed to train students in the area of healthcare documentation. Healthcare Documentation Specialists track patient outcomes for quality assessment, use classification software to assign clinical codes for insurance reimbursement, and record data for collection, storage, analysis, retrieval, and reporting. In Part I of this course, you will learn about the laws regarding healthcare, comprehensive HIPAA information, medical terminology and anatomy and physiology.
Please Note: After completing Healthcare Documentation Specialist Part I, the student will enroll in Healthcare Documentation Specialist Part II. The student must complete both classes to successfully finish the Healthcare Documentation Specialist course.
Requirements
Upon successful completion of the Part I course, a student will be expected to begin the Part II course within three months. If the student takes longer than three months to begin the Part II course, the student will need to start the Part I course again.

Active participation is defined as completing at minimum one graded assignment per week for the duration of the course.
